Woodsalt is entirely a narrative adventure title where players spend all of their time walking around, talking to other characters, and viewing events. Those expecting any substantial gameplay mechanics won’t find any here. Woodsalt is all about getting involved in NPC stories, which determine how the plot resolves. While Emcy recovers from his awakening, with side effects that include bizarre visions and dreams, and waits to hear what role he was awakened to fill, he spends his time learning more about Nu-Terra and building relationships with the other inhabitants. Upon waking up, Emcy is greeted by his younger sister, who is technically now his older sister as she was awakened some years before in order for her expertise to be used on Nu-Terra as it awaits the news that Earth is safe to return to. Along with many others, Emcy has been in stasis for a thousand years after the evacuation of Earth. The game follows Emcy, who wakes up in a bubble town on the world of Nu-Terra. Unfortunately, that execution is sadly lacking here, as those ideas fall down due to a lack of support from the rest of the game and they simply aren’t strong enough to carry things on their own. Its setting comes with plenty of interesting ideas, but they necessitate a strong execution.

The Steam page is also available for players to wishlist the game now. There’s enough about the store pages for Woodsalt, the debut title from indie developer Team Woodsalt, to attract some decent interest.

Team Woodsalt has a Facebook game where they discuss the upcoming game.

A mobile release is planned only “if we decide to sell our souls to the devil.”

The game will first launch for PC and the Nintendo Switch. The game is suggested for fans of the Persona series, adventure games, anime, and Sci-Fi. Woodsalt is a casual title where players can take their time getting to know the unusual world of Nu-Terra. The game contains no leveling, grinding, or dying. Every chapter is an important part of understanding Emcy’s journey. Team Woodsalt states that while the game is inspired by JRPGs, there are no fetch quests or filler. One playthrough of Woodsalt which can be completed in one sitting is around 9-10 hours. The main game has the player choosing Emcy’s responses, while the other half is about exploring the game. Players can also unlock one of ten secret endings that may involve a cat. The side stories can branch in many ways that will ultimately impact the primary plot. Woodsalt contains three main endings and side plots. One of the characters involves a dog wearing a space helmet. As Emcy continues his journey, a strange is watching his every move. Emcy can also speak with residents about what really happened on Earth and how he arrived on Nu-Terra. Players have to guide Emcy through branching conversations and explore his new home. While the chaos ensues, Emcy is plagued by a mysterious voice that no one else can hear. People in the city begin to become restless, and a conspiracy tries to keep humans from leaving. Emcy waits for a signal to return back to his home planet, but not every human is so eager to return to the planet. Players control Emcy, a man who was born on Earth, who awakens from stasis. People fled from the planet after several natural disasters and an attack by giant creatures. Woodsalt is set on the planet of Nu-Terra 1000 years after Earth was evacuated. The title is also the developer’s first project and will soon be out on PC via Steam and the Nintendo Switch. Developer Team Woodsalt has announced the release date for its upcoming narrative-led JPRG-inspired Woodsalt.
